Schlehlein offers no apologies for his absence
This blog is being written to acknowledge the fact that I haven’t blogged for more than a month. I’m sure you’re all very disappointed. Shame on me.
I’ve noticed that when other WordPress bloggers don’t write for a while they tend to apologize to the public for their absence, explaining away their lack of attention with such excuses as work, family, writer’s block, vacations, medical emergencies, etc.
Do you care why I haven’t blogged for more than 30 days?
I, too, have been tempted to apologize to my followers for not giving them something to read over their breakfast. While constructing this post in my head over the last 24 hours most of my opening sentences have begun with, “I’m sorry for not blogging lately, but…”
I won’t do it. I find apologizing for not blogging to be among the most pretentious actions that an amateur writer can do. I have no delusions that anyone would deem what I have to say to be so important that an apology would be necessary for the absence of writing.
That said, I hope you missed me. I’ll try to do better in the future.
Great non-apology! Where is my motorcycle commentary? I hope you have been out on those gorgeous Colorado roads!
Your non-apology is accepted.
I always believe if one can write, wants to write, has something to write, and some tool with which to write; one will write. In the meantime, you were missed, and I am glad you are back!
Oh, my! Thank you so much for those kind words, Valleygrail! It is a wonderful feeling to be missed, indeed!
So perfectly written
Thanks for liking my recent blog post about summer 2014. Sometimes I get the feeling no one cares so I agree that apologizing might be a bit much. I fear blogging may have died a couple of years ago but I still continue…
I feel better about my lack of blogging of late. You’ve inspired me not to apologize!
Hey! We all have down time. I hope yours was worthwhile. I will be do so over the next several months. Pick up when you are ready.

Sorry I didn’t find your blog sooner!
I looked at the name and registered a gap. Creative people aren’t the most consistent people in the world No apology necessary, no explanation needed. It’s part of our persona. 🙂
I like it and you gave me something to think about, as I too apologize when I dont get any blogs out. But then my blogs are about those Life struggles. I think the apologies are more for me than my readers. I love to write. I need to write. Its how I cope and when I cant I start to crack up. It’s as if I owe it to myself and the Readers that care to not to get so caught up in it that in all (Life) that I disappear without regard to my dreams.
Wow, where did that come from? Anyway thank you for the follow Eric. From the chambers of my heart, it means a lot to me.
Haha. Good one! Thanks for visiting my blog & liking my ‘apology’ post. It’s very nice to meet you. God bless.

Heheh, I apologize almost every time. I’m glad this convinced me that apology for absence isn’t necessary. Though it had to be mentioned after getting messages from readers for not posting anything in a long while. Cheers!

agreed….I didn’t miss you because I hadn’t found you yet!
Me either, Life. My first visit her. Listed looks very interesting and well written. Can probably learn a lot from Eric.
Hi Eric – Thanks for visiting my blog and “liking” my post. I’ve been exploring your blog and your posts are well-crafted, interesting and sometimes quite humourous. I’ll be checking in again.
Love this post. I am so very new to this that I hadn’t even run across someone’s apology post. Now I will be on the lookout! I look forward to reading more of your posts. Thanks for stopping by Praise Gratitude & Joy earlier today. I hope you stop back by soon.
Yes! I haven’t disappeared yet but would feel silly offering apologies for an absence (and might only hear in response, “Oh, were you gone?”).
I’m so much older than dirt it might surprise folks I’m still as near as a keyboard hitched to a broadband router, so I have never even thought about this sort of apologia pro absentia sua.
J.H.Newman wrote anApology pro vita sua when “apologia” meant “explanation” (Latin, lifted from Greek—literally the Greek says “talking from”). Newman didn’t mean “Pardon me for living”…
Lady Wife Moyzishen just walked in and joyfully announced “I’m alive!” She’s been slowly recovering from something that caught her weakened from a strenuous day meeting the public, demonstrating Ukrainian egg decorating at a church festival. (This old unregenerate fallen-away reprobrate goes along to sing. They allow that. They’re not Lutherans.)
Today I load chainsaws into the trailer and go “make wood” at a neighbor’s place and accept her gift of beans, cukes and tomatoes. Make wood. What an arrogant expression, eh? I never made so much as a stick of gum, let alone wood. An old Wisconsin expression, I wot. Never fear, I wear proper protection, including ear gear.
Glad the Moyzishen’s alive. Glad you’re alive, Eric. Good to see your following welcome you back.
Ciao, and keep on kicking. –DZ
I always apologize; shame on me – so this made me grin. Happy to see you here. Grin
I won’t apologize for making you grin, either! Love to you!
*Chuckle* Thanks for this. Actually, amateur is right. Innocently (most unwittingly) narcissistic, too. As though the world had been holding its breath. Everybody is consumed with his, with her OWN LIFE and BLOG. Writing this just reminded me…

Though there is no obligation to peek or respond.
=)
You just go on now and not write for as long as you want.
LOL!!
I love it! LOL
I have to apologize to myself when I don’t write for awhile.
